Types of Safari in Bandhavgarh National Park

Exploring Bandhavgarh National Park is best done through a jungle safari. It gives you a real feel of the forest and a chance to see wild animals in their natural home. There are two main types of safaris available:

Jeep Safari
The Jeep Safari is the most popular way to discover the park and its wildlife. You’ll ride in an open jeep with a trained guide who helps spot animals and tells you interesting facts during the journey. Jeep Safaris are well-known for tiger sightings, including famous tigers like Marchaini, Sukhipatia, Dotty Krishna, Rajbhra, Kankati, Chandini, Bamera, and Bheema.

Each jeep can carry up to 6 people, or you can book a full jeep with a guide and driver for a private experience. This safari takes you through dry deciduous forests, open meadows, and thick grasslands, offering views of both wildlife and natural beauty. It’s a perfect choice for those who love adventure and photography.

Elephant Safari (Joy Ride)
Elephant Safaris—also called Elephant Joy Rides—are available only in the Tala Zone. These rides give you a unique way to explore deep forest areas where jeeps can’t go. Riding on an elephant gives a quiet, elevated view of the jungle and sometimes helps in spotting hidden wildlife.

However, Elephant Safaris are rarely available to regular tourists. They usually require special permission from the Field Director, and a written application stating your name and reason for the ride. These rides are also expensive and often used only for official forest activities like tiger tracking.
